Gomeda Valley, adjacent to Mustafapaşa village, offers an ideal route for hikers, redolent of both nature and history.

Gomeda Valley begins in Ayvalı village and ends at Üzengi, known for its many pigeon houses.  The valley’s important religious structures include the Alakara Church, at the entrance of the valley, and the rock-carved Church of St. Basil, dating from the iconoclastic period (726-843AD), which is about a kilometer from the church. During the valley walk, one can observe interesting endemic plants and butterflies; in addition, water channels and tunnels add a touch of excitement to walking routes. Like a monumental structure, walkers are welcomed by the dovecote perches that still remain from the hundreds of dovecote windows that once rose at the end of the valley.
